ABSTRACT
Increasing the levels of autonomy for Aerospace Vehicles is an important task for the future systems to be developed. Autonomy will require the development and integration of specific sensors that will be needed to replace human awareness, i.e. sensing accelerations, rotation rates, presence of stationary and moving obstacles, together with specific solutions to overcame technical issues but also reliability and ethics concerns. Proper techniques for sensor data fusion are needed to exploit innovative sensors and systems that allow to increase the performance of several Aerospace Vehicles. The processing of synthetic information, also exploiting advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques, coming from several on-board systems can support GN&C functions and decision making for different mission profiles. The session encourages the submission of papers that address all the above mentioned subjects to support an updated overview about the state-of-art of research in this field.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Domenico Accardo is Full Professor for the subjects of Aerospace Systems, Avionics and Air Traffic Management at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and at the Italian Air Force Academy. He has a PhD degree in Aerospace Science and Technologies. He is the Head of the Center for advanced metrological and technological services (CeSMA – Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II), i.e. the center that deals with advanced technology transfer activities on behalf of the university.
